Vietnam : Day 2 “Discovering Hanoi” (Continued)

There’s already too much to see and too much to talk about even on my second day here in Vietnam.

After the lake, we visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Unfortunately, all museums close on Mondays so that was a bit of a bummer. Instead we ended up finding a lovely little cafe in the French Quarter also known as the Colonial District.

*FUN FACTS* 🇫🇷

  • Vietnam was once under French colonization. Its ghostly past with French Indochina still leaves behind some influence today in parts of Vietnam
  • French was the official language of Vietnam until its collapse in 1975 leaving Vietnam with the largest of the three Francophone communities in Southeast Asia.
  • The French baguette is widely used in Vietnam for their famous Banh Mi sandwich.
